Excavation of the access tunnel from Handeck to Gerstenegg began in October. This tunnel will be used primarily to access the Grimel I and II power plants in winter.

This historical mountain hotel, built in the 1930’s, is currently being completely renovated at a cost of approximately 11 million Swiss francs. The new opening date has been set for June 19th, 2009. Much is still to be done – so much so that the construction site at 2000 m. above sea level will be busy throughout the Swiss alpine winter.

On July 29th, 2008 the ground breaking ceremony was held for the construction of the new 150 kv switchyard in Innertkirchen. Construction has continued rapidly since then and the building shell is due to be completed mid November – another milestone reached. The switchyard is due to be completed early in 2011 at a cost of approximately 27.6 million Swiss francs.
